Ask for help

UNITY lend a helping hand this Christmas

Newport based youth forum UNITY wanted to help out a local charity this Christmas, and as the weather became colder their thoughts turned to the city’s homeless. They chose to work with Eden Gate, a Newport charity who help the homeless by running night shelters in the city.

UNITY started collecting warm clothes to donate to the charity and with Christmas being a time of giving, the young people were not short of kind donations, eventually filling a huge 20+ bags worth of jumpers, coats, scarves and gloves.

Last week they delivered their donations to some of the Eden Gate team. Jake is a member of Unity, he helped to collect and deliver donations and said “I’m really happy to help those that need to be helped.”

Aseye works at Charter and supports UNITY with their work, she joined the young people as they delivered their donations; “It’s great to see people helping out in their wider community, people from all walks of life are coming together to help others, it’s wonderful that the UNITY group can play their part to help too.”

Thank you to all the UNITY members who worked hard to collect these much needed items and a big thank you to all the Eden Gate volunteers who work so hard and will continue to give their time over the Christmas period.

Merry Christmas!
