Charter Options provides two rental options from Charter:

  • Charter Options Private Rentals
  • Charter Options Lettings Agency

Charter Options Private Rentals

We offer a range of houses and apartments to rent in Newport, Caerphilly Borough, Monmouthshire, Torfaen and Cardiff. Each property comes complete with carpets, window coverings and ovens.

The properties are owned by Charter Housing and are rented at 5% below the rate you could expect to pay in the private rented sector. You don’t have to pay any of the usual sign up or administration fees that other letting agents impose and properties are available to rent for an initial period of three years, and there may be an opportunity for you to buy in the future.

Who is the scheme aimed at?

Charter Options is aimed at people in employment and/or those who can pay the rental charge without additional financial assistance. However, in order to qualify, your annual household take home income should not exceed £30,000.

Prospective tenants will need to provide a bond of one month’s rent plus £100 and a month’s rental payment in advance. Future rental payments are due monthly in advance by direct debit.

What properties do we have?

Seen a property you like?

Then call the Charter Options team on 01633 678545. You will be asked to provide us a few basic details before making an appointment to view the property.

If you like the property and would like to secure it, we will ask you to pay a reservation fee of £200. This money holds the property for you whilst your references and financial details are checked. This payment will count towards your bond once you sign for the property.

What checks do you make?

Before we rent the property to you, we want to ensure that you will be able to pay the rental charge on time and can manage your tenancy successfully. You will be asked to provide;

  • 2 forms of identification
  • 1 proof of address
  • 3 months bank statements
  • 3 months wage slips
  • A reference from your most recent (or current) landlord
  • Employer’s reference

It will also be necessary for us to carry out a credit and address check.
