Charter has been working with an organisation called Tai Pawb to look at initiatives which would encourage people from BME backgrounds to consider a career in Housing, because we feel that it is important that our workforce reflects the communities that we work in. It will also mean that we are able to give much wider consideration to the issues facing 'minority' groups as part of our everyday decision making and service delivery.

As part of this work, we have agreed to be a partner in a specific project with 'Women Connect First', an organisation which enables refugee women who had a career in their homeland, to re-enter employment or training. This will involve taking women on two week placements within Charter to give them a 'taste' of what the work involves alongside some practical experience which will build confidence and skills. The aim is to accommodate three such placements annually for the next two years.
