MyPad celebrates lift-off with information day
This month a pre-tenancy programme for young people in Newport will be officially launched by Newport City Council, Supporting People and the city’s four biggest social landlords.
MyPad is a practical training course delivered by housing professionals and will be presented to professionals and service users at an information day on Wednesday 24th April. The launch runs from 11am to 1pm at Reach and Solas head office, 11 Devon Place, Newport NP20 NP4 and offers a showcase of the project’s work.
MyPad, a course of four, two-hour group workshops in central Newport that runs every month. Sessions are delivered by specialised housing officers and include expert training on budgeting, setting up home and living alone for the first time, plus a practical cooking workshop.
MyPad is open to people aged 16 to 24 who are applying for social housing on Newport’s common housing register. The project has also been nominated for an award for improving services by national body, the Tenants Advisory Service Cymru.
