MyPad Celebrates Hat-Trick of Awards
Charter’s partnership project MyPad is celebrating its first year with a hat-trick of national awards. Last Friday MyPad won the Service User Involvement award from housing support charity Cymorth Cymru at an awards ceremony in Cardiff. The previous week MyPad won the Chartered Institute of Housing Cymru’s Innovation of the Year 2013 at the Welsh Housing Awards.
Mike Rosser, who works for Linc-Cymru as Money Advice Officer and helps deliver MyPad sessions, represented the team at the ceremony.
In May 2013 MyPad also won a Tenant Participation Advice Service Cymru award for its work with young volunteers. The project is supported by Newport City Council and Supporting People, plus Newport City Homes, Linc-Cymru, Melin and Charter Housing. Many MyPad participants have left education early, so the training is highly interactive and offers a visit to an empty property for the ultimate reality check.
