Go Girls! Fundraising for Belarus
Go Girls Linking with Leaves of Hope Charity!
For the last 10 months the Go Girls have been tirelessly fundraising to raise sufficient funds to take a group of young people to work in Belarusian orphanage with the registered charity ‘Leaves of Hope.’
After the success of phase two launch night where £120 was raised, the girls began bag packing at Tesco Western Avenue. They happily packed shoppers bags and eagerly explained the Go Girls project to those customers that requested to know more. So determined were they with their fundraising efforts they even gave up their weekends to pack shoppers bags, much to the delight of ‘Leaves of Hope’ charity director Val Cousins who accompanied the girls.
The Go Girls is a partnership between Charter Housing and Bron Afon Housing. The Go Girls managed to raise a fabulous £450 at the Beauty That Works fair that ran for two days at BronAfon Housing. The youth team at Charter Housing provided a customized ‘cupcakes to your desk’ service that was warmly received by charter staff and which raised a total of £180 over two cake bake sales. A charity Chinese Auction night organised by Tamara Robinson and Deena Hayward from the Go Girls with youth team manager Samantha Howells singing, got the girls closer to their targets in September when they raised £500.
As well as group fundraising events there has been much indvidual sponsorship, encouragement and support from various people wanting to help the girls reach their target. And on hearing of the Go Girls plight, Neale Harding wanted to come on board and raised a staggering £700 with his charity sky dive.
