Getting online got John a puppy!
When pensioner John Baker mentioned to Charter he was looking for a new companion, he ended up with a bundle of fun on his hands.
John contacted Charter’s Digital Communities team to ask for help searching on the internet for a reputable puppy breeder. Although he’d done a basic computer course, he wasn’t confident going online. So, over a cup of tea, one of the team visited his house in Llanfoist to show him how to do searches and find a quality breeder of Highland terriers. John then got in contact by phone with a place in Clunderwen, West Wales. He took a neighbour with him for company on the four hour round trip and they came back with a puppy John named Poppy.
“For a guy of 74 it is hard to digest all this technology!” said John, from St Faiths. “At the end of the day, the Charter digital team has been a link to technology nobody round here can show me. I didn’t realise there was so much information out there on the internet.”
“I would not be without Poppy now she is massive company. She is part of the family now and so many people round here on the estate also enjoy her company and she’s made a big difference.”
“To anybody thinking about getting online, I would say go for it! Come into the 21st century, you cannot do without it. There’s always someone to help you!”
