We are very proud to announce that two of our life-changing projects have been shortlisted for the welsh housing equivalent to the Oscars – the 2014 Welsh Housing Award !, which are being held at the end of November.
Nominated for ‘Housing Hero’ – The Prevention Before Intervention project (PBI) run by the Tenancy Solutions Team, sees the adoption of a ‘tenacious approach’ by staff up front to help save many vulnerable tenancies. PBI usually starts at pre-tenancy stage with the identification of any vulnerabilities or specific needs such as debt, mental health issues, or domestic abuse, which may affect the way in which the tenancy is conducted.
Nominated for ‘Campaign of the Year’ – The Go Girls are fifteen inspirational girls aged 16-25 who were brought together through a partnership between Charter and Bron Afon HA to consider issues such as women’s equality, safer relationships and positive role models and what it’s like to be a young woman in Wales today. A year on from the ‘Go Girls’ launch, having previously described their experiences in words such as ‘depressing’, ‘abusive’ and ‘neglected’, the project has proved extremely effective, empowering the girls to speak out, enabling them to grow in confidence and even share their life experiences with their peers.
Good luck to everybody involved!
