Charter in Bloom
The Charter in Bloom competition has now been running for 17 years and is very popular with tenants. If you have grand designs for your garden, why don’t you enter? Find out more by contacting Sue Tidley, Aimee Hunt or Claire McGoldrick on 01633 212375 or email email@example.com.
The Champion Garden is specifically for 1st prize winners from the past three years and will be by invitation only. The Best Front Garden will be judged on its wow factor, creative endeavour and summer colour. The Best Back Garden will be judged on the best use gardeners have made of their plot of land.
The Community Award is for those collectively keen gardeners who live in a Retirement Living or a Supported Living Scheme. Neighbours, who work together to create a number of beautiful gardens in the vicinity of their homes and/or make improvements to the area in which they live, should also enter this section.
The Best Container can be any individual hanging basket, tub or planter not included in any other section of the competition. The Grow your Own Veg Award is for those gardeners who use their plot to grow their own fruit and vegetables. We are also offering a prize for the Best Tomato (which must be still attached to the vine).
The overall winner, chosen from the 1st prize winners from each category, will receive the Roy Morris Memorial Shield, awarded for outstanding achievement.
Once again there will be the Sunflower and Container Competition for Charter’s youngsters, with the tallest sunflower grown winning first prize. Sunflower seeds will be provided to all entrants. Our young gardeners will also have the opportunity to show off their skills in the Junior Best Container category.
Closing date is Friday 13th June 2014. The preliminary judging, if necessary, will take place end June/early July, with an anticipated final judging in mid July.
Judging for the Sunflower Competition will take place in August.
