Tenant Fun Day
We promised fun and the day didn’t miss the mark. With belly-dancing, line dancing, face-painting, wii competitions, dodgeball and much more, our tenant fun day offered something for everyone.
Held on 23rd August at Newport Leisure Centre, the event ran from 11am to 3pm and was packed with information stalls from organisations such as Gwent Wildlife Trust, SWALEC, Careers Wales, the RSPB and St David’s Foundation.
Charter staff showed off their creative skills with badge-making, face-painting, hula-hoop competitions and some impressive baking.
Tenants were treated to free food and drinks, and could try out several different sports under expert supervision.
The cake stall was a big hit too, raising more than £100 for South Wales charity Healing the Wounds, which supports servicemen and women suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.
“I like going to things like this, and it was great to be able to meet Charter staff face to face,” said Mary Fitzgerald, a mum of two from Newport. “My little boy also enjoyed it. It was a really good day.”
All donations taken on the day from various competitions and raffles will go to Healing the Wounds, which has been picked as the Forward Together Panel’s charity of 2011.
The Forward Together Panel, which is Charter’s tenant and staff partnership group, supported the event by organising its own stall and a bric-a-brac stand.
