Common Housing Register Update
Newport City Council along with Charter Housing and other registered social landlord partners in Newport are pleased to announce work towards a common housing register and policy in Newport is moving ahead very well.
We have planned an extensive programme of training for staff, residents and partners in the early part of 2012. This will be in readiness for a fully operational system by April 2012 (subject to no hitches along the way!)
As part of the lead in, weekly adverts will be introduced from Friday 25th November 2011, and the adverts currently called ‘Property Choice’ and ‘New Homes’, along with partner registered social landlords’ advertisements, will be combined into one and will be called ‘Home Options Newport’ (the name of the Common Housing Register). Until the Register is fully operational, each landlord will be letting vacancies in accordance with the council’s current policy and each band (platinum, gold, silver and bronze) will be given first preference for certain properties advertised. This will ensure fair access to all affordable housing vacancies in Newport.
If you are registered for housing with any of the partner registered social landlords, you will automatically be eligible to apply for properties advertised on ‘Home Options Newport’. The advert will be displayed in all registered social landlord offices and websites.
