How to apply

After completing an application form you will be given a username and password. All available properties are advertised fortnightly online and in the local press. You can “bid” online for any properties in which you are interested or by returning a coupon from the newspaper. Properties are offered to the person with the longest registration date who bids for the property and meets the criteria.

Urgent need to move?

If you feel you have an urgent need to move, please speak to the Lettings Team (lettings@charterhousing.co.uk) as we may be able to award you a priority card. A priority card will give you priority over other people who apply for properties and must be used for the next suitable property in your area. Under the policy, a priority card may be issued for violence, mobility and homelessness.

Tenancy Agreement

Your Tenancy Agreement will give you a number of rights and obligations. You will be expected:

• To pay your rent weekly or monthly in advance
• To live at the property as your only or principal home and use it for residential purposes
• To be responsible for the actions of all your family and anyone else living or visiting the property or vicinity
• Not to cause a nuisance or annoyance or allow members of your household or invited visitors to do this
• Not to commit or allow members of your household or invited visitors to commit any form or harassment or violence
• Not to use the property for any illegal or immoral purpose
• Not to cause or allow any form of noise nuisance
• Not to cause or allow any damage to the property or fixtures and fittings
• To report disrepair and allow access for repairs to be undertaken
• Not to park unroadworthy vehicles on the premises or in the vicinity
