
John Evans, Chair
John retired from his post as deputy chief executive at Torfaen County Borough Council in 1999. His previous posts have been with Pontypool Urban District Council, Devizes Rural Council and Bedwellty Urban District Council. John has also been Chair of Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, Chair of Torfaen Health and Wellbeing Partnership and a member of a Community First Partnership. John is also a board member of the Seren Group.
Stephen Malyn, Vice Chair
Stephen is currently employed with the Audit Commission (for England) as a District Auditor (Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire). Stephen is a qualified accountant with over 30 years experience in the public sector covering housing, local government, health, community safety and criminal justice. Prior to working in the South West, Stephen worked in Greater Manchester, South Wales, Cornwall and Devon. Previously a Board Member of Eastern Valley Housing Association (now Melin HA).
Rosemary Clark
Rosemary previously worked in the Civil Service in Newport. She recently took a career change and after successfully qualifying as a holistic therapist is now in the process of setting up her own business.
Joe Davies
Joe worked for the National Coal Board/British Coal for 17 years and GE Aircraft Engines for 12 years as an engineer. He qualified as a Quality of Environmental Engineer in 2003. Joe currently works as a Site Manager for an oil company based in Swansea, which has supplied Hydro-Carbons to the automotive industry since 2003. Part time, he is a Deputy Chief Steward at the Millennium Stadium.
Richard Grigg
Richard is a specialist Housing Solicitor, who is currently working for Cardiff County Council. He previously worked in private practice providing advice to solicitors throughout Wales on housing matters via the Wales Specialist Support Service. Richard is also a Community Councillor, Chair of Governors at Ysgol Pen Y Garth and Director of Finance for Plaid Cymru, the Party of Wales.
Brian Guy
Brian is a Chartered Builder and has spent his career in the construction industry. The last 30 years have been at Board level in various major construction companies, working throughout the UK on all types of projects, including residential. Now retired, Brian is a School Governor. He is also heavily involved in the Prince’s Trust, where he is a Business Mentor for young people starting their own businesses and also serves as a member of the Development Committee.
Lesley Jones
Lesley Jones took up the post of Chief Executive at Keep Wales Tidy at the beginning of March 2010. Keep Wales Tidy is an independent National Voluntary organisation with Charitable status working for the improvement of the local environment through community engagement, environmental education, campaign work and assisting the Welsh Government with the development and implementation of policy.
Lesley is a native of Wrexham with a degree in Politics from Swansea University. After periods of working and travelling overseas and in England, she returned to Wales in 1992 to take up a post as credit union officer with the Wales Co-operative Centre in Cardiff. The Centre provides support and training for social enterprises and co-operatives. Six years later she was promoted to the post of Credit Union Project Manager and in 2004 she was appointed the Centre’s Deputy Chief Executive.
Ian Matthews
Ian is currently Chief Executive of Merlin Housing Society based in the South West of England and has significant experience in the housing field.
Farhat Nazir
Farhat has worked in the telecoms industry for 20 years with experience in customer service, marketing and information technology. He also sits as a magistrate on the Bristol bench
John Richards
After serving an apprenticeship, John started employment as a Structural Draughtsman. He worked for many local engineering companies, including 12 years as a designer in the main Engineering Department office at BSC Llanwern. Since then, he has undertaken many clerical jobs, including his current position as Secretary/Administrator at the ORB WMC. John has always been an active member of the Labour Party and is at present a serving Newport City Councillor.
Lynne Ryan
Lynne trained as a registered nurse at the University Hospital of Wales and has over forty years experience in both community and acute healthcare services. Since 2002 she has held senior posts within the Welsh Assembly Government in the regulation and inspection of health and social care, her last post as Senior Regulation Manager within the Housing Division. She is currently working as an Independent Nurse Advisor to health and social care providers.
