Charter were recently invited to send two staff members to a reception in the HQ of the Department for Communities and Local Government in Westminster to celebrate 100 days of the Respect Standard for Housing Management. The reception provided Charter staff with an opportunity to meet other housing providers signed up to the Respect Standard and to talk to senior figures about our approach.

The Respect Agenda was launched by the Government toTony Cox Respect "rebuild the bonds of community", and focuses on six strands of work: supporting families, a new approach to the most challenging families, improving behaviour and attendance in schools, activities for children and young people, strengthening communities and effective enforcement and community justice.

The reception was addressed by Ruth Kelly MP the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Louise Casey, the Government co-coordinator for Respect, and Jon Rouse, Chief Executive of the Housing Corporation.

Charter is one of only two RSL's within Wales to have signed up to the Respect Standard.
